i say no but I'm curious what others think
the horrors persist, but so do we

I don't really have a preference so long as we can post screenshots if links are banned
click this link to see a cool website

call me sparkie or "you little shit"
(they/it)
Mmmm I say yes to all. there are downloaders out there to rip videos and screenshots can work.

I just don't want any direct connection to that garbage now that they all showed their true faces.
what is the purpose of blocking outgoing links? if anyone here is posting things they shouldn't, i'd rather take that up as a moderation issue and ask the person to stop, rather than forbid such links entirely (because sometimes they may be appropriate)

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I only assume such things, but wouldn't posting a link to such-and-such place theoretically give them the opportunity to peek into here? Like if I posted a direct link to a twitter vid, won't twitter have a record that we (this site) linked something of theirs?
sure, but we'd be one referring URL among billions, and the idea of it gaining their notice seems extremely remote.

I mean, I was thinking that we didn't want to contribute to X / Meta / etc distribution on the one hand. And yeah, those sites are just riddled with monitoring, so I don't need any encouragement to click them. And there's rather an ethical issue making a habit of consuming content, and advertising, from those sites now due to their Nazi / MAGA ties.

I wouldn't want to see this forum heavily populated with content from any of those networks or even from Reddit, to be honest. Homegrown content would be great, when possible. But sure, a low volume of screenshots from the services is fine.
